Manage paired Edge machines under Settings → Edge Devices. Expand a machine to see its network, peripherals, displays, and update status.

Understand machine status

Also check Last seen. It tells you whether an offline event is recent or whether the machine has been unreachable for a longer period.

Read the status LEDs

A red LED starts after repeated failed check-ins, not after a single dropped request.

Change Wi-Fi

When the machine is still online:
1

Open Network

Expand the Edge machine and find Network. Check its current Wi-Fi name, signal, and IP address.
2

Forget the saved Wi-Fi

Select Forget & show hotspot and confirm the warning. The machine forgets its saved Wi-Fi and temporarily goes offline.
3

Join the setup network

Near the Edge machine, join Stardeck-Setup-XXXX on a phone. The setup page should open automatically; otherwise, open http://10.42.0.1.
4

Enter the new network details

Select the new Wi-Fi network and enter its password. The machine keeps its existing pairing, so no new Stardeck pairing code is required.
5

Confirm it reconnects

Return to the dashboard and wait for the machine to show Online with the new network.
Forget & show hotspot requires someone to be physically near the machine. If Ethernet is connected, the machine stays online and does not open its setup network. Disconnect Ethernet and restart the machine before continuing with Wi-Fi setup.
If a paired machine starts with no usable network—for example, after its Wi-Fi password changes—it waits about 90 seconds and then opens Stardeck-Setup-XXXX automatically. Reconnect it using the same Wi-Fi-only flow.
A local network with a broadband outage still counts as a network connection. In that case, the Edge machine stays on the local network and flashes red instead of opening its setup network.

Automatic updates

Edge software updates are automatic. The machine periodically checks for a signed release, downloads it, applies it, and confirms that it can start and reach Stardeck. If the new version fails its health check, the machine automatically returns to the previous working version. A power interruption during an update is also recovered after the next boot. Do not unplug the machine while it shows Applying unless there is a physical safety issue.

Move, replace, or remove a machine

  • Moving it to a new network: use Forget & show hotspot before unplugging it when possible.
  • Replacing a printer: configure the replacement, then re-point the app’s existing alias.
  • Replacing the Edge machine: pair the new machine, grant it to the same apps, and re-create or repair the affected aliases.
  • Retiring or transferring it: remove its app grants, clear any displays, then remove the machine from Edge Devices.
Removing a machine makes its existing app access and identity unusable. Do not remove it just to fix Wi-Fi or replace a printer.
After removal, power the machine while it has internet access and confirm that it returns to Stardeck-Setup-XXXX before giving it to another organization.
